Position Overview

The Technical Design Assistant ensures the accuracy of technical documentation and provides direct support in digitizing, correcting, and organizing patterns. This role serves as a key technical bridge between the Specification Writer and Technical Design Associate by combining spec data accuracy with hands-on pattern insight, technical drawing fluency, and cross-functional communication. This role maintains technical files, updates Odoo tasks, and ensures clear cross-department collaboration. The
ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically skilled, and ready to grow within a fast-paced, collaborative cut-and-sew manufacturing environment.

 Compensation & Benefits  

 House of Holmes offers a competitive compensation package designed to support our team both professionally and personally. This position includes a salary range of $18.00-$21.00 per hour, depending on experience, along with access to medical, dental, and vision benefits. Team members also receive 40 hours of paid time off (PTO) and 40 hours of paid sick time each year. In addition, we are developing a performance-based bonus incentive program to reward employee productivity, efficiency, and contributions to team success.  Key Responsibilities:

 Pattern Support & Drafting

  • Assist with digital pattern editing, annotation, and cleanup using internal templates and Gerber/Adobe tools.
  • Support pattern revisions following fittings, manager feedback, or client notes.
  • Interpret sample corrections into updated pattern data, flagging inconsistencies before submission.
  • Ensure files are properly labeled, organized, and uploaded into the team’s shared platforms.

Spec Development & BOM Accuracy

  • Create and revise spec sheets using measurements and style notes provided by assistants and leads.
  • Cross-check Bills of Materials (BOMs) with tech packs, materials received, and client instructions.
  • Support SKU setup and assist with creating pre-production and sample tracking logs.
  • Reference past styles to estimate sew times or stitch counts when drafting early spec sheets.

Cross-Functional Communication

  • Serve as a technical liaison between the Spec Writers and the Technical Associate Lead, surfacing any issues in data integrity, timelines, or pattern discrepancies.
  • Attend daily check-ins and actively report on style progress and remaining needs.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with sample-makers, floor leads, and other departments.

Tech Pack Development & Technical Artwork Support

  • Assist in creating and updating tech packs, with a focus on accurate construction details, measurements, and production-ready documentation.
  • Produce and revise technical flat drawings, seam callouts, and garment detail sketches for client and internal use.
  • Support artwork placement, logo positioning, and trim/component layout within technical files.
  • Collaborate with Technical Designers and Patternmakers to ensure all visuals align with the intended product and manufacturing requirements.
  • Maintain consistency and clarity across all drawings, spec pages, and technical references used in sampling and production.

Documentation, Record Keeping & ERP Updates

  • Maintain organized and accurate technical records for all active styles, samples, and revisions.
  • Update project statuses, task progress, and file uploads within the ERP system (Odoo) in real time.
  • Ensure that all pattern corrections, fit notes, spec adjustments, and client approvals are properly documented and traceable.
  • Track version control for tech packs and ensure the most current documentation is always available to production teams.
  • Support continuous improvement by helping standardize processes, file structures, and technical reporting systems.

Process & SOP Compliance

  • Follow the full Odoo Technical Development workflow—including checklist reviews, photo uploads, and detail annotations.
  • Maintain a clean and up-to-date digital archive for all styles in development.
  • Complete required technical forms, quality assurance checks, and document reviews before sign-off.

 Daily Expectations

  • Cross-check all BOMs, Spec Sheets, and Line Lists with sample notes and tech pack references.
  • Ensure stitch counts, sew times, and material quantities are updated.
  • Log and update Odoo tasks daily with clear status comments.
  • Support digitizing and annotating patterns under supervision.
  • Review spec and tech pack documents for consistency and compliance.
  • Attend morning check-ins and report on all assigned styles.
  • Submit a Daily Style Recap with completed work, pending items, and blockers.
  • Upload all files correctly at end of day and identify next-day goals in Odoo.

 Qualifications 

 Required 

  • 1+ year of experience in technical design, apparel production support, or a related field (2 years preferred)
  • Working knowledge and strong understanding of garment construction, fit, and sewing fundamentals.
  •  Ability to interpret tech packs, specifications, and pattern corrections with accuracy.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to documentation quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced development and production environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems and willingness to learn internal platforms (Odoo, shared drives, Excel, Adobe Illustrator and/or Gerber Accumark, etc.).
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Able to take direction, adapt quickly, and operate with a growth mindset

Preferred 

  • Experience supporting patternmaking, fittings, or sample development workflows.
  • Familiarity with Gerber, Adobe Illustrator, or other technical design tools.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish (eligible for pay differential).
  • Strong organizational skills with an interest in process improvement and efficiency.
  • Willingness to learn advanced technical design systems, construction methods, and factory workflow.

Education 

  • College degree in fashion design or experience equivalent preferred. 
  • Additional coursework or training in fashion design, technical design, or patternmaking is a plus.

Schedule& Work Environment 

  • Full-time position, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. 
  • Includes a 30-minute lunch break.
