Position Summary:
The Entry Level Specification Writer plays a critical role in the technical documentation and internal communication of garment and gear production details. This role supports the development and production teams by ensuring clear, accurate, and timely specification packages (tech packs), bill of materials (BOMs), and workflow sheets. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, organizational clarity, and a methodical approach to process documentation, helping translate design concepts into actionable production-ready guidelines.
Compensation & Benefits
House of Holmes offers a competitive compensation package designed to support our team both professionally and personally. This position includes a salary range of $16.50-$19.00 per hour, depending on experience, along with access to medical, dental, and vision benefits. Team members also receive 40 hours of paid time off (PTO)

Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, revise, and maintain accurate specification sheets for all product
styles including measurements, trim details, construction notes, and materials. - Collaborate with Technical Designers and Patternmakers to ensure specs reflect correct construction and fit.
- Populate and maintain digital BOMs for each style with full material callouts and usage quantities.
- Document workflow steps in our production platforms, ensuring task
checklists are complete and aligned with each production phase. - Organize and update product documentation libraries to ensure all spec files are current and version-controlled.
- Assist in sourcing and compiling BOM sheets and production estimates based on development input.
- Support communication with sample makers and sewing staff by preparing printed spec binders with annotated visuals and required attachments.
- Communicate inconsistencies or missing data promptly and follow through to resolve documentation gaps.
- Participate in internal reviews of sample fittings, noting changes or corrections required in final spec documents.
- Ensure all work aligns with internal SOPs and complies with House of Holmes’ formatting and naming conventions.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong technical writing and data entry skills.
- Excellent organization and file management abilities.
- Familiarity with garment construction, trims, and materials (prior experience in apparel or gear manufacturing is a plus).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or BOM platforms.
- Familiarity with design platforms (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CAD) is a plus but not required.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and independently track multiple projects.
- Clear written communication and professional email etiquette.
- Strong sense of accountability and follow-through.
- High attention to detail and accountability in fast-paced development environments.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in apparel, tactical gear, or cut-and-sew manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, CAD tools, or technical drawing platforms.
- Understanding of general patternmaking and production workflow sequencing.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred (pay differential offered).
Education:
- High school diploma or working equivalent required.
- College career path in technical and fashion design.
- Additional coursework in fashion, technical design, or product development is a plus.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time position, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
- Includes a 30-minute lunch break.
