Position Summary
The Sewing Floor Manager oversees daily operations on the sewing floor to ensure quotas, quality standards, and deadlines are consistently met. This role leads a team of cutters and sewing operators, assigns tasks, monitors performance, and provides real-time solutions to workflow or equipment challenges. Responsibilities include enforcing quality and safety standards, collaborating with Line Leads and the Production Manager to address bottlenecks, and tracking production KPIs. The Sewing Floor Manager also plays an active role in equipment setup and maintenance, supports sample development, and fosters a safe, efficient, and collaborative work environment.
Compensation & Benefits
House of Holmes offers a competitive compensation package designed to support our team both professionally and personally. This position includes a salary range of $55K–$65K annually, depending on experience, along with access to medical, dental, and vision benefits. Team members also receive 80 hours of paid time off (PTO) and 40 hours of paid sick time each year. In addition, we are developing a performance-based bonus incentive program to reward employee productivity, efficiency, and contributions to team success. Key Responsibilities
Production Coordination
- Plan, organize, and monitor daily production activities and quotas.
- Collaborate with Line Leads to streamline workflow, address defects, and assess staffing needs.
Team Supervision
- Conduct daily check-ins to review priorities and progress.
- Assign tasks, motivate operators, and monitor performance.
- Provide coaching, informal assessments, and escalate feedback as needed.
Equipment
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of sewing machinery, setup, and maintenance.
- Oversee machine setup according to engineering plans and perform basic repairs.
Quality Assurance
- Enforce standards by inspecting products during and after production.
- Work with QC to resolve deviations and ensure processes are properly documented.
Workflow Optimization
- Identify bottlenecks and collaborate with the Production Manager to implement solutions.
- Ensure efficient allocation of resources to maximize throughput.
Safety Enforcement
- Enforce safety protocols and conduct daily hazard checks.
- Provide safety training and address issues promptly.
Sample Development
- Oversee prototype construction in collaboration with design teams.
- Ensure samples meet specifications and construction efficiency.
Documentation & Reporting
- Track and report daily KPIs and production metrics.
- Maintain job closeout sheets and accurate defect/output records.
Daily Expectations
- Monitor quotas and ensure daily production targets are met.
- Lead daily team check-ins and coordinate with Line Leads.
- Inspect in-process and finished goods for quality.
- Identify and resolve workflow bottlenecks.
- Track KPIs, maintain records, and submit reports to the Production Manager.
- Complete daily safety checklist and ensure compliance across the floor.
Qualifications
Required
- 10+ years of sewing production floor experience, with team leadership.
- Strong knowledge of cut-and-sew processes, garment construction, and quality standards.
- Skilled in machine setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Experience driving throughput while maintaining quality and safety.
- Proficiency in production tracking systems and manufacturing software.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Bi-Lingual in Spanish and English
Preferred
- Line balancing, takt time, and visual management experience.
- Hazard mitigation and safety training leadership.
- Skilled in KPI documentation and production reporting.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade coursework preferred.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time position, Monday–Thursday, 6:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
- Includes a 30-minute lunch break.
